Airline Case Study: A legacy enhanced

The problem

A leading commercial airline sought to modernize its guest management system, which relied on outdated legacy technology and a long-standing vendor resistant to change. Their goal was to implement an IoT-based infrastructure with minimal human intervention, while keeping their legacy systems intact. They needed a new architecture incorporating IoT sensors, AI-based analysis, a kiosk, and a mobile app, transitioning to a cloud-based system. The project had to comply with FAA and TSA security standards and was completed within the 8-month timeline. The solution provided guests with a seamless experience, leading to a 2-year Managed Services contract extension for ongoing support.

The Solution

The solution involved designing a modern architecture that integrated IoT sensors, AI-based analysis, kiosks, and mobile applications while maintaining the existing legacy systems. Infra-red sensors were used to automate guest management, and a cloud-based system was introduced to reduce on-site upkeep. The system provided guests with personalized, real-time alerts, virtual check-ins, and detailed airport maps, improving the overall travel experience. Predictive booking, based on guest preferences like food allergies and dietary restrictions, further enhanced convenience. Delivered on time, the project resulted in a seamless transition to the new system and secured an extended support contract.
